This film by Pakistani writer-director Saim Sadiq, stole my heart. It is about a queer relationship in a traditional Muslim society where women are not allowed to be sexy, and men are not allowed to be gay. Joyland is the first Pakistani film to premiere at Cannes Film Festival where it won the Jury prize, and was also the first entry from the country to be shortlisted for the best international feature film Oscar. Although the film has already received world acclaim, it’s still banned in parts of Pakistan including Lahore, where the film was made.

Michaela Woodall and Canopy are proudly sponsoring this film at the Kenworthy: June 24th @ 7pm & June 25th @ 4pm . The film is in Urdu and Punjabi-language with English subtitles.
